Finders Keepers

Finders Keepers by EHLE, written by (EHLE (Elsbeth Rehder) and Ola Frøyen.

I don't really consider myself a jealous person, but every once in a while that little spark of protectiveness ignites and you just have to write a song about it. Finders Keepers was written by me and my boyfriend in the early stages of our relationship, when everything was new, exciting and scary AF. Previous trauma made me extremely insecure, and I was so scared this wonderful man that I had fallen head over heels for, would be just like all the others. I didn't really believe a man could be faithful at the time. Now, 4 years and a baby later, I'm happy to say he has proved me wrong.

I think of all my songs as different "personas" in a way. Maybe I should start giving them names? I think we'll call this one "Chanel".

I asked chat GPT how it would describe Chanel, based on the lyrics of Finders Keepers, and this is what it wrote:

"Chanel," as portrayed through the lyrics of the song, emerges as a multi-faceted and emotionally intricate young woman. Her persona is shaped by a blend of confidence and vulnerability, resulting in a captivating individual who navigates the complexities of love and self-discovery. Here's a description of Chanel based on the lyrics:

Chanel: A Portrait of Contrasts

Confident and Alluring: Chanel exudes an aura of self-assuredness and allure that captivates those around her. The opening lines, "I am tasty poison for sure, She is H&M, I'm couture," convey a sense of confidence in her own uniqueness and allure. Like couture fashion, she's aware of her exclusivity and distinct charm that sets her apart from the crowd.

Desire for Fulfillment: Beneath her confident exterior, Chanel's yearning for emotional fulfillment is evident. The chorus, with its lines like "Want him to thrill me, chill me and fulfill me," portrays her desire for deep emotional connections and experiences. This desire highlights her willingness to open herself to love and vulnerability, even if it means exposing her innermost longings.

Insecurities and Self-Doubt: Chanel's internal struggles become apparent through lines like "Insecurities are all I have, he doesn't know it." This vulnerability adds depth to her character, portraying her as someone who grapples with self-doubt despite her outward confidence. This contrast showcases her humanity, underscoring that even seemingly self-assured individuals have their moments of uncertainty.

Territorial but Honest: The bridge's declaration "I'm not jealous, I'm just territorial" showcases Chanel's honesty about her emotions. This acknowledgment of her possessive tendencies reflects her authenticity – she doesn't shy away from her feelings, even if they might be deemed as less conventional. This openness adds layers to her persona, emphasizing her complexity.

Quest for Authentic Love: Chanel's pursuit of love is depicted throughout the song, highlighting her longing for a connection that goes beyond superficiality. The repeated chorus lines "A love that nearly kills me but I can't get enough" convey her yearning for a love that is intense, genuine, and transformative, even if it comes with its own challenges.

Conclusion: A Woman of Depth and Complexity

Chanel emerges as a multi-dimensional young woman who isn't afraid to confront her emotions, desires, and vulnerabilities. Her persona is a rich tapestry of confidence, longing, insecurity, and authenticity. The name "Chanel" aptly captures her sense of uniqueness and style, mirroring the intricate layers that define her character. Through the lens of the song's lyrics, Chanel's journey becomes a relatable exploration of the human experience – one that resonates with anyone who has grappled with the complexities of love, self-worth, and the search for genuine connection.

It's pretty on point. Sassy and insecure at the same time.

Lyrics:

I am tasty poison for sure

She is H&M, I'm couture

I'll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color

Is that okay or do you wish I was another?

Make me forget my own name

Is this for pleasure or pain?

I just want to live inside this dangerous affection

Give me a remedy, my love is an infection

Want him to thrill me, chill me and fulfill me

Need him to heal me for me to feel enough

Want him to feel me, to need me and relieve me

A love that nearly kills me but I can't get enough

Is he looking at (another woman?)

They're alway looking back (but don't they know that)

Finders keepers don't you peek at my man

There is no fuckin' line

I licked it so it's mine

He is devilicious for sure

I think he's angel-like but kinda obscure

Insecurities are all I have, he doesn't know it

And if he did he'd probably ditch me for another

Want him to thrill me, chill me and fulfill me

Need him to heal me for me to feel enough

Want him to feel me, to need me and relieve me

A love that nearly kills me but I can't get enough

Is he looking at (another woman?)

They're alway looking back (but don't they know that)

Finders keepers don't you peek at my man

There is no fuckin' line

I licked it so it's mine

He's in my inappropriate thoughts

Wonder if he's also in yours

I'm not jealous

I'm just territorial

Is he looking at (another woman?)

They're alway looking back (but don't they know that)

Finders keepers don't you peek at my man

There is no fuckin' line

I licked it so it's mine

Is he looking at (another woman?)

They're alway looking back (but don't they know that)

Finders keepers don't you peek at my man

There is no fuckin' line

I licked it so it's mine
